Roy is a black-belt level character for experienced players.
He actually wants to Banish as many cards from his own Deck as possible, because he can weaponize those loses to achieve some serious effects.
Master his Deck, & you'll destroy your opponents.
Use his Deck poorly, & you'll lose the game without your opponents even needing to try.
You'll find it especially interesting to play him against Adiba, who delights in Banishing her opponents' cards.
This basically puts Roy's strategy on military grade cocaine, which means he'll either go Super Sonic in seconds . . . or implode instantly.
His Ability, Telepath from Beyond, allows him to, if he so chooses, once during each of his turns, Banish a card from his Hand to Draw up to 1 card from his Deck.
That Ability might make a player cringe.
I mean, a bad choice or 2, & you might just put yourself in the corner.
And . . . yeah, a less experienced player playing as Roy could easily screw themself with that Ability.
A more seasoned player, familiar with Roy's Deck, can use it like a pro, decimating their opponents.
Play a Support from your hand at the cost of 1 Action.
When you do, place the card face-up on the field, above your Character Board.
It is now considered Under Your Control.
Next, place a number of Stamina Tokens on that Support equal to the number of points
you have in Influence at that exact moment.
While on the field & under your control, Supports offer continuous effects to aid you in the game.
Unless the Support says otherwise, you do not need to spend an Action to activate the effect(s) of a Support already In Play (you spend an Action to put it from your hand onto the field, but, once it's there, it's typically free to activate its effects).
At the start of your turn(s), remove 1 Stamina from every Support you control.
The instant a Support has no Stamina, destroy and send it to its discard pile.
If a Support fails to specify when you can activate it, you may do so at any point during the game, so long as it's on the field & under your control (unless its effect(s) are somehow negated).
If a Support fails to specify how often you can activate it, you may do so as many times as you see fit, so long as it's on the field & under your control (unless its effect(s) are somehow negated).
Whenever you Reload while this Support Card is on the Field & under your control, you'll target an opponent, who will afterwards lose 2 Hit Points.
Admittedly, if that's all this card offered, it would seem pretty lame . . . but Khadija offers a nice, juicy, Passive effect.
Passive effects are always written in parentheses.
Passive effects do not require you to pay an Action to use.
While Banished, Khadija allows Roy (this effect only effects Roy) to Play cards as if he has an additional point in the Attribute, Knowledge.
This even sneaks past the 5 point maximum for your Attributes, because if Khadija is Banished, & you have a full bar (5 points) in Knowledge, you get to Play cards as if you had 6 points in Knowledge.
Granted, you'll mostly use this to Play Items a turn early.
Using a card's Passive effect (always written in parentheses) isn't considered "Playing" the card, meaning it won't cost you any Actions to use.

While Asura is on the Field & under your control, you may Play Events in your Discard Pile as if they were in your Hand.
You still have to spend an Action to Play them.
After Playing an Event from your Discard Pile via Asura's effect, Banish the card you Played.
(Art work coming soon)
While Baxter is on the Field & under your control, if you Banish an Event card for any reason, you may afterwards Destroy a card on the Field.
Baxter, itself, does not cause you to Banish a card for it's effect, meaning you must find another effect to make you Banish an Event card.
Baxter has a Passive effects that allows Roy to Play it (by spending an Action) as if it were in his Hand.
Remember that you can only spend Actions during your Action Phase(s).
Yes, Passive effects do not typically cost an Action, since it doesn't count as "Playing" the card . . . but Baxter's Passive effect allows you to PLAY it from Banishment which DOES still require you to spend an Action.
Playing Baxter from Banishment returns it to the game.
In other words, it's no longer Banished, & it will, when removed from the Field, go to its Discard Pile unless an effects states otherwise).
Considering how easily Roy can Banish his own cards, especially given his Ability, Baxter's potential is complete madness.
Team Baxter up with Asura (another Support in Roy's Deck), & you can pretty much Play whichever Events you want after just a little set up.
This is Roy's only source of removal, so if you're playing against him, and you plan on going heavy with Supports or Items, watch out for Baxter.
Spend 1 Action to play an Event from your Hand.
Do what the card says in the order it says.
After its effects resolve, send it to its Discard Pile.
Note: while an Event's effects resolve, that card does not exist anywhere.
It is considered, "In the Aether."
It's no longer considered in your Hand, nor is it yet considered in its Discard Pile (until its effects finish resolving)

When you Play this Event, you'll target an opponent, who'll lose Hit Points equal to the number of points you have in the Attribute, Influence PLUS the number of Knowledge cards Banished from your Deck.
Given Roy's Deck and Ability, he could easily swing for 9 points with this card, & he has plenty of ways to keep swinging with it.
In fact, if Roy Banished his Event card, Vasuki's Castle (which allows him to Play cards as if he has an additional point in Influence), he could, with a full bar (5 points) in Influence, swing for 10 points with Gabriel.
Spend 1 Action to Play an Item from your Hand.
To do this, you'll need a number of points in the Attribute, Knowledge
equal to or greater than the Item's level.
When you Play an Item, place it face-up on the Field above your Character Board.
It's now considered "under Your control."
While on the Field & under your control, Items offer continuous effects to aid you in the game.
Unless the Item says otherwise, you do not need to spend an Action to Activate its effect(s) while it's already In Play.
You spend an Action to put it from your Hand onto the field (Play it), but, once it's there, it's typically free to Activate its effects.
Basically, Items prove harder to play than Supports, but they last longer.
If an Item fails to specify when you can activate it, you may do so at any point during the game, so long as it's on the Field & under your control (unless its effect(s) are somehow negated).
If an Item fails to specify how often you can Activate it, you may do so as many times as you see fit, so long as it's on the Field & under your control (unless its effect(s) are somehow negated).

Whenever you Play a card & you control this Level 3 Item on the Field, you'll Play that card as if you have an additional point in the Attribute, Combat (this even sneaks past the 5 point max on your Attributes, allowing you, if you have a full bar--5 points--in Combat) to Play cards as if you have as 6 points in Combat!
Whenever you Banish an Influence card while controlling this Level 4 Item on the Field, you'll gain 2 Actions.
Roy's Deck & Ability allow him to easily Banish cards, so expect to get some serious (even if eventually limited) value out of this card.
This Level 5 Item is an absolute nuke.
As long as you control Legba's Mask on the Field, you may, every time you Banish a Combat card for any reason, target an opponent, who will afterwards lose 7 Hit Points.
Legba's Mask, itself, does not cause you to Banish a card for it's effect, meaning you must find another effect to make you Banish a Combat card.
With some set up and foresight, Roy can easily Banish 3 Combat cards in a single turn, even the same turn during which he Plays Legba's Mask, thus swinging for a lethal 21 points of damage before his targets can do anything to protect themselves!
When you Play this Event, you'll target an opponent, who'll lose Hit Points equal to the number of points you have in the Attribute, Influence PLUS the number of Influence cards Banished from your Deck.
Given Roy's Deck and Ability, he could easily swing for 9 points with this card, & he has plenty of ways to keep swinging with it.
In fact, if Roy Banished his Support card, Khadija (which allows him to Play cards as if he has an additional point in Knowledge), he could, with a full bar (5 points) in Knowledge, swing for 10 points with Group Attack.
When you Play this Event, you'll swing at your opponent's Hit Points with damage equal to the number of points you possess in the Attribute, Combat.
While Banished, Vasuki's Castle allows Roy (this effect only effects Roy) to Play cards as if you have an additional point in the Attribute, Influence.
This even sneaks past the 5 point maximum for your Attributes, because if Khadija is Banished, & you have a full bar (5 points) in Influence, you get to Play cards as if you had 6 points in Influence.
Using a card's Passive effect (always written in parentheses) isn't considered "Playing" the card, meaning it won't cost you any Actions to use.
When you Play this Event, you'll target an opponent, who'll lose Hit Points equal to the number of points you have in the Attribute, Influence PLUS the number of Combat cards Banished from your Deck.
Given Roy's Deck and Ability, he could easily swing for 9 points with this card, & he has plenty of ways to keep swinging with it.
In fact, if Roy Item, Hermes's Sandals (which allows him to Play cards as if he has an additional point in Combat) is ont the Field & under his control, he could, with a full bar (5 points) in Combat, swing for 10 points with Rasheed Library.
When you Play this card, you'll return a number of Banished cards, up to as many as points you have in the Attribute, Combat, to their owners' Hand(s).
Mostly, you'll use this to get back cards you've Banished, but occasionally you'll have a good reason for returning a Banished card to an opponent's Hand (such as Burrow to Adiba's Hand so she can't get any Shields off its Banishment).
This card can become very powerful in team and draft play (consider Adiba & Boudicca's decks).
This card has only a Passive effect, meaning if you spend an Action to Play Portal Author from your Hand, it will do nothing except go to its Discard Pile.
What a waste.
Passive effects are always written in parentheses.
However, it's Passive effect (which you don't spend an Action to use because you're not "Playing" the card) is pretty good & easily overlooked by your opponents, given that Portal Author's Passive effect only works while it's in your Hand or Discard Pile (but, hey, don't YOU forget about it, now).
Once per turn (everyone's turn), if Roy would lose Hit Points, you may Banish Portal Author from your Hand or Discard Pile to lower the amount of Hit Points he would lose by the number of points he has in the Attribute, Combat.
The "once per turn" might seem unnecessary, but I'm thinking ahead here.
Future cards & Abilities might allow Portal Author to go into an infinite loop, making Roy all but untouchable.
